About This Spot

Stepping into Crazy Sushi is like discovering a quiet treasure tucked away from the usual bustle of Madison Heights. The space carries a calm, unpretentious energy — intimate and laid-back, with the comforting hum of a familiar neighborhood spot where the pace slows down just enough to savor the moment. Here, the air is tinged with the subtle aroma of fresh seafood and the faint crackle from the chef’s quiet craftsmanship behind the counter.

This is not the kind of place rushing to please every table at once. Instead, expect a thoughtful, steady rhythm as the sole chef, who is also the owner, carefully crafts each roll with a mix of focus and pride that spills into the flavors. There’s a softness beneath his straightforward manner that makes the experience feel personal, like sitting down for a hand-prepared meal shared with friends rather than dining out at a busy chain.

The menu reveals itself gradually, inviting you to lean into flavors that feel familiar yet adventurous. From vibrant, vegetable-forward rolls to decadent bites like the spicy scallop or a smoky, rich baked roll, each piece tells its own story — shaped by gentle hands and deliberate care. Portions are generous, a detail that draws many locals back time and again, creating a quiet but loyal community of regulars who appreciate the genuine simplicity of Crazy Sushi’s approach.

Here, you’ll find moments of anticipation as your order slowly takes shape, a small reminder that good things often require patience. When the food finally arrives, it’s rewarding not just in taste but in the subtle human connection woven through every bite — between the chef’s dedication, the thoughtful assembly, and your own quiet appreciation.

For those who cherish discovering local spots where authenticity lives in the details, Crazy Sushi feels like uncovering a genuine piece of Madison Heights—humble, heartfelt, and quietly memorable.

This little sushi place is my all time favorite!!! I’ve been going for years. There’s usually only 1 chef working there, the owner, so if it’s busy it can take a while for the order to be ready. Best to call your order in. It’s 100% worth the wait though. He takes great care and pride in making his rolls and it shows. You’ll find rolls you won’t get anywhere else. You have to try the Crazy Love roll - it’s divine! My mom is from San Diego and when she visits she wants to get Crazy Sushi

One of the best bang for buck sushi places in SE Michigan. The rice was on point and the portions of fish on the nigiri and in the rolls was solid, bordering generous. Basically one chef doing everything, so service is a little slow, but also means that each item is personally prepared and made by him. Chef has a rough exterior and demeanor but is a softie inside so don’t be intimidated. Only thing to keep in mind is that the seating is somewhat limited, so no great for big crowds.

We have been coming here for years and have never been disappointed. The prices are an extremely good deal for the portions (huge) and quality of food. This is probably one of my favorite sushi places. The hours can be a little unregular as there is only one sushi chef. We always check they are open before we go. Totally worth it though!

Though only limitedly open, Mr. Lee prepares the best sushi that I have ever had in my area (and outside of it in many cases). His prices are extremely affordable, a large menu from which to choose from and he provides excellent service to you either as you wait or for carryout. He is very friendly and I've noticed, while waiting for my food to be prepared, that he has many repeat customers (besides myself) with whom he greets warmly.

First time here. Take out only. The gentleman preparing the sushi was super nice. The sushi was great! I ordered the Volcano and the Spicy Scallop. Definitely coming back.
